- Legend
A native of Guelph, Lloyd began his bowling career at the old Wyndham Lanes in the late forties. He bowled in several leagues, including the Inter City league, which took Lloyd to Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo, Paris, Ingersoll and Woodstock. While maintaining a lofty average, Lloyd won more than 150 trophies and many individual awards. A great tournament bowler, Lloyd was the Guelph representative to the Sportsmans Show as well as bowling in the OConnor Open several times. In the twilight of his career, Lloyd still managed to qualify for the Carlings roll-off three times. As well as displaying his bowling skills, Lloyd also helped others enjoy the game. While managing Whites Bowling Lanes in Guelph, Lloyd started a blind bowling league and also tutored the pin boys from his centre and travelled with them in competition. A strong family man, Lloyd married Molly Haynes in 1937 and together they enjoyed 35 years of marriage and two daughters, Irene and Karen. Lloyd passed away in 1977 and left his mark both as a legend in five pin bowling and as a man of impeccable character in the community.
