As Lloyd Ormerod is inducted into the 5 Pin Bowling Hall of Fame tonight, his bowling career is in full swing. Only this past August, Lloyd, now 72, teamed with another veteran, Helen MacCallum, to win the Master Bowlers Association Mixed Doubles. The win was Lloyds eighth in 23 years of MBA play. Lloyds bowling career started at the ripe age of 36, and nobody ever kept a better record of their scores and accomplishments. He estimates bowling 87,400 games, a phenomenal nine perfect games, of which three were sanctioned, 71 10000 series and two triples over 1100. A charter member of the Masters, Lloyd won aggregate honours in 1970 and parlayed that win to a national title. In the Carlings, Lloyd won the singles title in both 1975 and 1977, and in total qualified 13 times for the provincial event. Lloyd has dominated every league in which he participated. He won high average titles five times from 1971-77 at Bar Don, and at Sherwood and Westdale added 18 more high average titles between 1964-82. Today, Lloyd still bowls in five leagues a week, as well as the Masters and as many open tournaments as he can find. At all these events you will also see his wife Betty, who has accompanied him during his bowling travels. Lloyd and Betty have been married 49 years and their two daughters, Pat and Lynn, have seven children, all girls. There are also three great grandchildren, one of which is finally a boy.
