The late STAN THE MAN BATTERSBY of Stoney Creek, during a 20-year career from about 1950 until 1970, was a dominant figure in the Hamilton area and at a long list of Provincial and National Championships. He was an Ontario Mens Singles Champion in 1954, and a member of Ontarios Championship Hamilton & District Mens Team in 1954, 1956 and 1970. A member of the Master Bowlers Association of Ontario, Stan averaged 267 in league play in 1955, and bowled a perfect 450 game in the Niagara District League in 1965. In 1959 he rolled an 1147 triple off a 440 single, and counted at least 16 games of 400 or better in his career. In 1967, the Canadian Centennial Sports Review Committee named Stan Battersby its bowler of the Half Century.
